The Solar Anus and Before Sunrise

in the bjork archives it was said that bjork was influenced by georges bataille's story of the eye. my next random sighting of bataille was in richard linklater's movie before sunrise, when celine reads him on the train in the opening scene. the scene under the stars sounded like bataille, too:

"I have never been anywhere that I haven't been. I've never had a kiss where I wasn't one of the kissers. I've never gone to the movies when I wasn't there in the audience. I've never been out bowling if I wasn't there making some stupid joke. I think that's why so many people hate themselves. it's just that they are sick to death of being around themselves … but being with you, it's made me feel like I'm somebody else." (before sunrise)

"a man who finds himself among others is irritated because he does not know why he is not one of the others. in bed next to the girl he loves, he forgets that he does not know why he is himself instead of the body he touches. without knowing it, he suffers from the mental darkness that keeps him from screaming that he himself is the girl who forgets his presence while shuddering in his arms." (the solar anus)
