Dostoevsky fanart
I read demons recently, and it reminded me of my favourite godard movie, la chinoise. only on the consequent rewatch did I realize it was based on the novel; a french maoist version of demons appeals to me so specifically. it's so strange to think that all the other godard films I've seen went completely over my head, except for this one that seems to have been entirely made just for me. this thirst for dostoevsky 'fanworks' was later again fulfilled in my discovery of the artist ilya glazunov.

what led 16-year-old me to read crime and punishment for the first time and change the trajectory of my life was fanart, actually. surpiek is an artist online that I've admired for forever.
